Traffic campaign for motorcyclists in Eifel region

Together with German colleagues in Trier, the police of the Limburg-South region are exhorting motorcyclists to exercise caution in unfamiliar territory. Especially those who already start their ride through the Eifel after a trip through the Netherlands somewhat tired.

That area is known and loved among motorcyclists for its beautiful routes and scenic winding roads. Because of the high number of accidents with injuries and fatalities (29 in 2011), the police of the Polizeipräsidium Trier warns of the dangers of speeding.

In cooperation with German colleagues, a leaflet has been produced under the title “Motorcycling in the Eifel – of course, but safely!”. The police forces hope to achieve that there will be fewer accidents involving motorcyclists, that the number of accidents with serious injuries or fatalities will decrease, and that motorcyclists will show traffic-safe driving behavior.

The leaflet concludes with the tips: – Take a “short modified driving course” after winter break. Especially as a first-time rider – Always adjust your speed to match other traffic – Wear safe, visible and functional motorcycle clothing – Check the operation of all major functions (of the motorcycle, ed.) before setting off – Never take risks when riding in groups
